Are you making this mistake on your website? 🤯 Are you making this mistake on your website? 🤯 If you’re uploading images on your website in full resolution — I’m talking about images that are MASSIVE — then this is your call to action to start optimizing those pics! 

The biggest mistake I see DIYers make is that they don’t edit the dimensions and file size of their images before they upload them to their website. 

Images that you’re downloading from your phone or from free stock image sites like Unsplash and Pixels are huge. Their dimensions and file size are meant for large print use… not for viewing on your cellphone. So those images need to be resized and compressed so they load quickly on your website. 

Having small image sizes that are less than 500kb in size will help your pages load quickly and will help your SEO ranking as Google favours sites with fast loading speeds. Check out sites like iloveimg.com or imageresizer.com to make the process even easier. All you need to do is upload your image and it will do the rest. 

This is something you can do to the images already on your website too. 

Wordpress users can download a free app like EWWW Image Optimizer or Smush to automate the image compression process.
